Music may be known to sooth the soul, but it can also help sharpen our senses. Close your eyes and dive straight into the cosmic and sensual universe of Barbarella Wang, a talented artist from Lille. In a musical style that mixes revamped trip hop with neo-soul, Barbarella’s warm and clear vocals dance upon eclectro-pop sounds created by her two favorite beat makers: DustyTone and Paul Grimm. These songs glide elegantly in the air and inspire listeners as they carry enticing notes reminiscent of Morcheeba, Massive Attack and Portishead. Signed with Enlace Records, the electro label from Lille, this young and pretty singer-composer dropped her first six-song EP last December, and her second is soon on its way. Her track “When the Sun Goes Down” played in a loop on our playlist all summer long. Just as addictive is the remixed version by Anh-K, another talent freshly recruited by Enlace Records. Listening to this music, you will almost feel the sand caressing your feet while the temperature around you rises and the lapping of the waves lulls you into a relaxed state. The side effects of this music are highly recommended.
