This neo-bistrot located in the Vieux-Lille neighbourhood is headed up by the young and powerful duo of Simon Pages, manning the stove, and Matthieu Durand, taking charge of wines as the restaurant sommelier. Together they have created a restaurant with a simple, intelligent, and surprising cuisine offered up on their short yet extremely effective menu. Diners can enjoy delightful wines from confidential French producers yet to be discovered. This little bistronomic wonder that brings us back to the fundamentals of cooking is called the Gabbro. Specials of the day, gourmet dishes and delicacies are served up in generous portions, all made with fresh produce. Smoked haring roe and Norway lobster soup with a twist of citrus. Mackerel and whelk topped with a parsley and samphire sauce. Cream of pumpkin soup with traditional Fourme d’Ambert blue cheese. Risotto with osso buco. Salmon basse served with flageolet beans and a lobster sauce. But it could be that the liver terrine, pork belly served with lentils in juice, or the guinea fowl from the Maine-et-Loire region of France could be just what you need. Before moving on to the dessert menu, you may want to pick out a few cheeses from the magnificently refined cheese platter. And all this without needing to break the bank. Miracles do exist!
