Hip House for Happening Hosts
What would you say to a stay in a 19th century mansion? Your immediate reaction is to recoil, thinking of mediaeval furniture in a cold, dusty room, right? But no! Don’t be fooled! In this magnificent guesthouse opened just in May, we find a subtle yet eclectic mix of furniture, with contemporary replacing the old. Stepping into the entrance hall we find a magnificent blue, carpeted grand staircase leading up to the four bedrooms and two studio flats on the top three storeys of the house. This guesthouse boasts spacious and comfortable rooms, a refined décor, white walls, golden parquet flooring, designer furniture, and paintings by local artists. The trump card, however, is the large communal room used to serve breakfast. This room in and of itself represents everything that is anti-conformist about the entire guesthouse. This is an unexpected space with an impressive chimney sitting prominently for all to enjoy. The room is filled with red and purple designer furniture made of velvet and wood, creating a convivial, lively and warm atmosphere to start your day. It’s also an ideal local for the requisite pre-diner book or cocktail. From here guests can enjoy a view of the historic Parc de la Citadelle through the room’s high windows. This is the ideal location to experience the calm and green within a stone’s throw of the Vieux-Lille neighbourhood. There’s no need to thank us for this find – we too have spent quite some time looking for the ideal location to make your stay in Lille just perfect!
