Extend your summer
Start of the new school year? That was a while ago. Autumn? Already here. In short, it’s the perfect time to plan a little time away. For a cozy and refined escapade, we suggest you head to Maison 76 in Montreuil-sur-Mer, two hours from Lille. Located in the heart of the old city, Maison 76 is a little piece of paradise that opened just a year ago. Tim Matthews, the friendly British owner, has put his heart and soul into this very beautiful 18th century private mansion that served as a pharmacy for some 200 years. History and modernity mix elegantly here, as antiques and original pieces are blended with the refined touch of contemporary designer furniture. The result is elegant, warm and cheerful. The rooms are incredibly comfortable, the bathrooms very pleasant, there is cake on offer 24/7, breakfast is home made, and guests can always relax with a glass of champagne in the lovely living room. The attention to detail is enough to make your troubles melt away. And then there’s the outdoors! Step out into an enclosed garden worthy of a home decor magazine, filled with lavender and rhododendrons. Take a dip in the small heated pool, spend some time curled up on the sofa reading a book in the garden cabana, or enjoy cocktails around the fire basket. This is truly a place to get away from it all.
